All the Dirt on Food - Appalachian Trail Prep.

Terri & Dreamer here,

Ok, ok, finally, we have prepared a blog post and You Tube video about “Food”.  There is no question the number one comment is about food.  Well, we should say that is the number two comment after, “You guys are going to do what?  Oh my, are you guys crazy”!  I guess the answer to that is, yes we are…

The questions range from: how are you going to carry six months of food on your back, what kinds of food are you going to be eating, will you be eating out every day, what is Charlie going to eat, do you eat freeze-dried food every day and do you cook in the woods or just eat cold foods out of packages??  And on & on…  This video should answer most of the common questions.

More than likely this video will not answer all of your questions, so please feel free to add your comments and/or questions below.  We would love to hear from you.  Especially if you feel as though we are missing something!

  1. Tom and Terri, You both are quite adept and comfortable in front of a camera. Again, you impress me with all of your hard work, forethought and preparation in order to make your dreams come true. Having all of your big pans, bowls and such from canning definitely come in handy while creating all of these yummy meals. I love the music you chose to play while Terri was taking food out of the dehydrator. It's funny because this is exactly what I hum out loud whenever I am hurrying to get something done...made me laugh out loud. God bless you in realizing your dreams!! Love, Sue

  2. Sue,

Your notes are always encouraging! Terri and I can not begin to tell you how much!! The music for that piece you referring to was a last minute thought that Terri had. In order to get it, we had to play it on one device, record it with an audio recorder to get a digital file, then transfer it to iTunes where I could import it into Final Cut. It worked... Glad you are enjoying the videos! Have a great time in Maui.... ALOHA

  3. You guys ROCK! We are looking forward to following along on your adventure.....Terri, do you ever sleep? Photographer, incredible cook, sewing, knitting, preparing for this trip...... and now being a grandma......wow. Will the kids meet you along the way at some point?....that's a long time to be a way from that beautiful new granddaughter. Praying for safety and refreshment being together, in the beautiful out doors.

  4. Hey TNT, Great Blog, plan on tagging along via my comfy chair. My husband and I are planning our yearly trip to Newfound Gap for trail magic...We will be hanging out in the parking lot waiting to feed hikers the week of Easter. If you find yourselves there, look for the white pickup. Blessings on the trail. Beth and Bernie Briden
